Target is recalling two types of baby wipes after the discovery of the presence of bacteria that could lead to sepsis.

Up & Up Fragrance Free and Up & Up Fresh Cucumber Scented Baby Wipes are being recalled after testing identified the presence of two types of harmful bacteria, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced June 5.

The fragrance-free wipes are sold in packs ranging from 20 wipes to 1,200 wipes, while the cucumber-scented wipes are sold in packs ranging from 72 wipes to 800 wipes.

The contamination was discovered after customers reported discoloration in the wipes, FDA officials said.

Although healthy people who use the wipes on skin with minor lesions may experience local infections, the bacteria pose greater risk to immunocompromised people, newborns, infants and young children, the FDA said. In those cases, the infection is more likely to spread into the bloodstream, which could cause sepsis or pneumonia.

The wipes are sold online at Target.com and Target stores nationwide.

Impacted fragrance-free wipes have a manufacturing code between Nov. 7, 2025, and May 5, 2026, as well as expiration dates between May 10, 2028, and Nov. 5, 2028.

Impacted cucumber-scented wipes have a manufacturing code between Dec. 29, 2025 and Dec. 30, 2025, as well as expiration dates between June 29, 2028, and June 30, 2028.

Customers should immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to any Target store for a full refund, according to the FDA. Customers can also contact Target Guest Relations at 1-800-440-0680 for more information.
