GREENWOOD, Ind. (WKRC) — Plans have been submitted to build Buc-ee's first-ever location in Indiana, reports WTHR.
The travel center submitted a proposal to the advisory plan commission in Greenwood, about two hours from Cincinnati and about half an hour south of Indianapolis, to rezone 80 acres of land along I-65, near Worthsville and Collins roads. The outlet reported in November that Buc-ee's was close to a deal to buy land in that area.
The plan includes a 74,000-square-foot location on 37 acres, with 120 fueling stations, charging facilities for electric vehicles and walking trails to connect the travel center to the Greenwood trail system. The proposal is planned to go before the Greenwood Plan Commission at its June 22 meeting, but it may be continued to July to be heard by Greenwood's Common Council.
Buc-ee's has become known over the years as an experiential road trip stop, with its many gas pumps, large retail selection, clean bathrooms and popular food options, including its barbecue and Beaver Nuggets. There are currently 55 Buc-ee's across the country, with most of its travel centers located in Texas.

The first Buc-ee's location in the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana region opened in Richmond, Kentucky, in 2022. Ohio's first location opened in Huber Heights in April of this year, and another Ohio location is planned for Mansfield, which could open as early as 2028.
