Fiserv ( FISV) stock shed more than 7% in morning trades, as the shares traded below its 50-day line.

The company said Mike Lyons has stepped down as CEO and a member of the board. Lyons is returning to banking and will become CEO of Truist Financial Corporation, the company said.

Takis Georgakopoulos, who had served as chief operating officer and co-president, has been named CEO.

"A CEO departure one month after the investor day, when stock is at 10-year low levels is a bad look, in our view," Bernstein Research analyst Harshita Rawat said in a client note.

Lyons became known for resetting Fiserv's strategy "to focus on high quality durable revenue, and addressed what he perceived as short-termism within the company," Rawat added.

"While this is a perfectly logical CEO appointment, we worry that the abruptness of the change and subsequent unclear direction will continue to weigh on the stock," Rawat said.

Fiserv stock retreated as the broader market rallied on news of a U.S.-Iran deal to end the war.
