Gang of 3: Zuckerberg, Musk, and Huang Call Trump to Oppose AI Regulation Rich Duprey Fri, September 18, 2026 at 12:57 AM GMT+9 4 min read NVDA +2.35% META +0.79% SPCX +2.70% GOOG +0.70% Quick Read Meta's Zuckerberg and Nvidia's Huang joined Musk to kill a proposed AI oversight body that would have entrenched OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.

Huang warned NVIDIA can only fill 70% of current demand while guiding Q3 revenue to $108 billion against $279 billion in supply obligations.

Just released. Our analysts combed the entire stock market and named the ten best stocks to buy right now, and NVIDIA didn't make the cut. Enter your email to see the names that beat NVDA. The report is free. Enter your email and see if any of your stocks made the cut.

Three of the loudest voices in AI spent last week working the phones. Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) CEO Mark Zuckerberg, SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) CEO Elon Musk, and NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang reportedly spoke separately with President Donald Trump and convinced him to back away from a proposed federal AI oversight body. The concept, floated by Google DeepMind's Demis Hassabis, would have created an industry-funded standards and testing body modeled on FINRA to evaluate frontier models before deployment. The three CEOs argued the framework would cement dominance for OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, creating a regulatory moat.

On Meta's Q2 2026 call, Zuckerberg told analysts "AI is accelerating our core business today, powering our next generation of products, and opening the door to entirely new enterprise opportunities." He also flagged that Meta is "receiving a lot of offers for compute at a significant premium over what we paid for it". Revenue rose 27.96% year over year to $60.80 billion, but diluted EPS of $6.18 missed the $7.2214 consensus by 14.42%. Capex hit $30.12 billion in the quarter, and Meta narrowed full-year 2026 capex guidance to $130 billion to $145 billion. Free cash flow collapsed to $784 million from $8.55 billion.

Musk left little doubt about his AI ambitions on the August 4 earnings call. "We are building AI compute capacity at scale faster than anyone else, we believe," he said, adding that the company's "tentative target is to actually have 20 gigawatts at the power and cooling level online by the end of next year." On chip supply, he was blunt: "Going forward, we've decided to build exclusively on NVIDIA because we think the Vera Rubin architecture is the best architecture." SpaceX's AI segment revenue jumped 247% year over year to $2.56 billion, with $15.83 billion of the quarter's $18.37 billion in capex directed to AI compute infrastructure.

Huang was the most direct. "AI has reached its inflection point. It's doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue," he told investors on August 26. He also warned that NVIDIA is running short: "At this moment, we have supply for 70%. We have more supply than 70%, but about 70%. Our demand is much higher than that." Q2 FY2027 revenue reached $96.22 billion, up 105.85% year over year, with Data Center at $89.02 billion and Q3 guidance of $108.0 billion. Supply obligations swelled to $279 billion.

The three CEOs are collectively committing hundreds of billions to AI infrastructure, and the power, cooling, and networking suppliers riding that spend are the subject of a free report we put together here: 7 Stocks Powering the AI Boom (That Aren't Chipmakers). Any framework that slows model deployment lands directly on those bets. Keep an eye on how White House advisor David Sacks, who favors lighter, voluntary approaches, shapes what comes next.
