Nvidia Is Worth $5 Trillion. But This Could Be the Next Big Catalyst for the Stock Vandita Jadeja Tue, September 8, 2026 at 10:00 PM GMT+9 6 min read NVDA +0.84% AMD +4.69% AVGO +0.21% TSM +2.85% Quick Read NVIDIA (NVDA) earns a BUY rating with a $302 price target implying 33% upside, anchored by Vera Rubin generating $40B revenue per gigawatt versus $25B for Blackwell.
AMD trades at a 172x trailing P/E versus NVIDIA's 45x, while Broadcom (AVGO) posted 221% AI revenue growth yet neither challenges NVIDIA's platform dominance.
AWS committed to 2 million additional GPUs through fiscal 2029, and the top five hyperscalers are projected to spend $1.3 trillion on capex in 2027.
Just released. Our analysts combed the entire stock market and named the ten best stocks to buy right now, and NVIDIA made the cut. Enter your email to see the other nine names and why NVDA earned its spot. The report is free. Enter your email and see the full list.
NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) has already crossed $5 trillion in market value, but our proprietary model still points higher. Our 24/7 Wall St. price target for NVIDIA is $301.68, implying upside of roughly 32.65% from today's quote.
That translates into a buy rating with a 90% confidence level, driven by the Vera Rubin production ramp, the hyperscaler capex trajectory, and margin resilience even as memory pricing bites into gross margin.
NVDA has gained 7.04% over the past week and 20.47% year to date, capping a 31.57% one-year gain. Q2 FY27 revenue landed at $96.22 billion, up 105.85% year over year and 4.51% above consensus.
Non-GAAP EPS of $2.22 marked the fifth straight beat. Data Center revenue reached $89.02 billion, with networking up 138%. Management guided Q3 to $108 billion, plus or minus 2%, and told analysts that customer forecasts imply doubling next year, capped by supply at approximately 70%.
Vera Rubin, now shipping, generates roughly $40 billion of revenue per gigawatt versus $25 billion for Blackwell, giving Jensen Huang a materially richer product cycle to sell into.
24/7 Wall St has helped investors make money for over two decades, and our top analysts just finished ranking the definitive Top 10 Stocks To Buy Now. Not the ten biggest companies. Not the ten everyone is arguing about. The ten best stocks to buy right now.
The report is free, and you can see why we think each stock is a top investment today.
The bull case rests on three catalysts. First, Vera Rubin orders: NVIDIA has already received purchase orders from every major hyperscaler, AI cloud, and system OEM.
Second, AWS committed to deploy an additional 2 million GPUs extending into fiscal 2029.
Third, the top five hyperscalers are projected to spend $1.3 trillion in 2027 on capex.
Sell-side coverage runs 9 strong buy, 48 buy, 2 hold, 1 sell. Our bull scenario points to $346.03, or 52.15% upside, if Vera Rubin absorbs supply faster and gross margin recovers to the 72% to 73% range management guided for FY28.
The bear case starts with supply commitments of $279 billion tied to memory procurement, plus $108.5 billion in guarantee obligations backstopping AI cloud partners. Memory pricing has already forced management to project a Q4 gross margin trough of 71% to 72%.
Days sales outstanding stretched to 60 days from 45 as large customers negotiate extended terms, and China compute revenue is now zero in guidance. Our bear scenario sits at $255.42, still 12.31% above spot. Bulls would counter that DSO extension reflects investment-grade customer mix, and that the $279 billion supply figure signals demand strength.
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) is the closest merchant-GPU rival. Q2 2026 revenue of $11.54 billion grew 50.11%, Data Center jumped 107%, and the stock trades at a trailing P/E of 172x on a $748 billion market cap. AMD's multiple dwarfs NVDA's 45x, which makes our $301.68 target look conservative on relative earnings power.
Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) posted Q3 FY26 revenue of $29.59 billion, up 85.5%, with AI semiconductor revenue of $16.70 billion growing 221% year over year. AVGO's $1.69 trillion market cap and custom-accelerator momentum make it the strongest challenger for hyperscaler wallet share, yet NVDA still owns the platform and margin story.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE:TSM) is the upstream manufacturing anchor for Blackwell and Vera Rubin. Q2 2026 revenue of $40.20 billion beat by 10.89%, and gross margin hit 67.7%. NVDA's 75% gross margin sits well above TSM's, reinforcing that our target multiple is defensible.
The 24/7 Wall St. price target of $301.68 with a buy rating and 90% confidence reflects a business where demand still outpaces supply.
The setup looks constructive at current levels if Q3 revenue comes in line with the $108 billion guide and Vera Rubin absorbs at least 20% of Data Center mix as promised. The thesis weakens if memory-driven gross margin slips below the 71% floor. Given the demand runway, the risk-reward remains skewed to the upside.
These projections assume NVIDIA continues to ramp Vera Rubin, hyperscaler capex holds near projected levels, and China restrictions remain unchanged.
All of that buildout still has to be powered, cooled, and networked by somebody, and we pulled seven of those suppliers into a free report on the AI infrastructure trade. Significant upside could follow an AGI-driven demand cycle, while downside would come from a hyperscaler capex pause or a fresh memory-supply shock.
