Oil prices edged higher from Friday's settlement levels in after-hours trading, as traders reacted to news that U.S. forces attacked Iran in response to Iran's strike Thursday on a commercial ship traveling through the Strait of Hormuz.

The news came just ahead of the end of the after-hours electronic trading session. West Texas Intermediate crude for August delivery was at $70.24 a barrel following the news, above the day's settlement at $69.23. August Brent crude was at $72.95, up from its $71.99 settlement.
