Maple Leaf Foods has recalled over 12,000 pounds of bacon imported to the United States from Canada due to an import violation, according to a notice from the Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The products were "imported from Canada without the benefit of import reinspection into the United States," the FSIS stated in its July 24 notice.

The recall affects not ready-to-eat smoked bacon products distributed to retailers in Idaho, Oregon and Washington state, according to the FSIS.

Top Valu Uncured Hardwood Smoked Bacon Product of Canada has been recalled due to an import violation.

No illnesses have been reported related to the product, per the recall notice.

The recall also comes about a week after President Donald Trump's administration announced 50% tariffs on many Canadian imports. The tariffs, expected to impact goods imported into the United States from Canada’s auto, alcohol and dairy industries, are scheduled to take effect on Aug. 19. However, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has signaled he is open to negotiations, so the final rate and scope may still change.

The following Maple Leaf Foods products are included in the recall:

Royale Natural Applewood Smoked ALL NATURAL Uncured Bacon Product of Canada– 12-ounce vacuum package, with the following sell-by dates printed on the side of the package:

- Sept. 7 2026
TOP VALU Uncured Hardwood Smoked Bacon Product of Canada– 12-ounce vacuum package with the following sell-by dates printed on the side of the package:
- Sept. 1, 2026
- Sept. 2, 2026
- Sept. 4, 2026
- Sept. 5, 2026
- Sept. 7, 2026

Royale Natural Applewood Smoked ALL NATURAL Uncured Bacon Product of Canada has been recalled due to an import violation.

The recalled products were produced on the following dates:

June 9
June 10
June 12
June 13
June 15

"EST. 1" is also printed on the side of the package.

Where were the products sold?

The products were sent to Grocery Outlet distributors and retailers in the following states, according to FSIS:

Idaho
Oregon
Washington

A full list of where the product was distributed will be posted to the FSIS website once it is available.

What should you do if you purchased the recalled products?

The agency said the recalled products may still be in consumers' fridges and freezers. It urged people not to consume the recalled products.

Consumers who purchased the recalled bacon should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase, according to the FSIS.
