More than 541,000 Subaru vehicles have been recalled due to a potential safety risk that could increase the risk of a crash.
The recall notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that certain vehicles were "manufactured with an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating on the certification label."
The agency stated that the issue could lead to vehicle overloading, according to the safety recall report.
Here's more information about the models included in the recall and what car owners should do.
Which models are included in the Subaru recall?
According to the NHTSA, 541,237 units were potentially affected. The recall number is WRH-26.
The models included in this recall are:
- 2019-2026 Subaru Ascent (383,800)
- 2025-2026 Subaru Forester (49,849)
- 2025-2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid (77,504)
- 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid (29,297)
What are the next steps for car owners?
The NHTSA says Subaru will send out new certification labels to car owners. Or they could go to the dealership to get it installed. Both options are free of charge.
Notification letters about the safety risk will be mailed in late August, and an additional notice about the remedy will be sent out at a later date, the agency noted.
Subaru can be reached at 844-373-6614.
