UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio ( WCMH) — An Upper Arlington bakery is creating a special cookie to help raise funds for an Ohio corner store that is being sued by Buc-ee’s.

The Original Goodie Shop is selling cookies for $3 each, and $1 from each cookie sold will go to Beaver’s Mini Mart in Beavercreek. The cookies feature the Beaver Mini Mart logo and address.

“We talked with the folks at Beaver’s Mini Mart in Beavercreek, Ohio, and they gave us permission to recreate their logo on a cookie (you know…copyright law and all),” The Original Goodie Shop wrote in a social media post.

Beaver’s Mini Mart has been thrust into the national spotlight after it became the target of a trademark lawsuit from Buc-ee’s, which opened its first Ohio location earlier this year. Beaver’s Mini Mart has been part of the Beavercreek community for decades.

The gas station chain claims that the Beaver’s Mini Mart logo and mascot is similar to its own logo and could cause confusion.

Buc-ee’s filed a lawsuit in February against a northern Ohio gas station that uses a Moose as its mascot. Watch previous coverage in the player above.

“Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver criticized Buc-ee’s last month for its lawsuits, even going as far as to create merchandise depicting a donkey that has many of the same traits as the travel center’s mascot and begging them to sue him.

At the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine weighed in on the matter, saying that in Beavercreek, people expect to find things called “beaver.”

“Buc-ee’s, people love Buc-ee’s and, you know, I was there when the ceremony took place,” he said. “We welcomed them to Ohio, we welcome them to Mansfield, but it just seems to me that they, they need to dismiss this lawsuit. This is ridiculous.”

Buc-ee’s is planning a second Ohio location in Mansfield.
