US stocks fell on Monday, erasing an early morning rally as chipmakers weakened, putting the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index on pace for its third consecutive session of declines.
The Nasdaq 100 Index was down 1% at 11:49 a.m. in New York. Earlier, it touched its lowest intraday level since May, near correction territory. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell as much as 5.1%. The S&P 500 Index declined 0.3%.
