Tucked into Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh’s eventful press conference on Wednesday was a suggestion the US central bank could shift its approach to assessing inflation — a remark that’s sowing angst among some investors.

While the main focus of the briefing was his views, or lack thereof, on whether to raise interest rates, investors and economists are also debating the implications of a potential rethink of how policymakers gauge inflation.
