Thousands of WestJet flight attendants could walk off the job this weekend, threatening to disrupt the busy travel season for Canadians.

Cabin crew represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees issued a 72-hour strike notice, the union said Thursday. The airline said that in response it is issuing a lockout notice.
