Editorial and AI Policy
What AI does here
- Writing. A language model drafts each article from the facts in a named publisher's reporting. It is instructed to use only those facts and to write in its own structure and wording.
- Fact-checking. A second pass compares every claim in the draft with the original reporting. Drafts with unsupported claims are rewritten or discarded. Drafts that echo the source too closely are rejected.
- Illustrations. Images are generated by AI to illustrate the topic. They are not photographs, never depict real people or events, and are labelled "AI-generated illustration".
- Audio. The audio version is read by a synthetic voice and is labelled as AI-narrated.
Attribution
Every AI-assisted article names the publisher whose reporting it draws on and links to the original story. We do not copy articles. Facts come from the original reporting; the writing and structure are ours.
Limits
Automated checks reduce errors but cannot remove them. If something looks wrong, check the original report linked at the end of the article, and tell us so we can fix it.
Original reporting
Stories marked Exclusive are written by our own staff and are not AI-generated.
